5 Things to do for a mood boost during pregnancy

Let’s get real here, I was so grateful to be pregnant, but at times I felt a bit down in the dumps. I could have done with a list of 5 things to do for a mood boost during pregnancy. so I have made one!

In my head, pre-pregnancy, I was going to be a glowing, smock dress wearing, gliding round Goddess of baby making beautifulness. In reality, I found myself, fat footed, itchy and more looking like a stick of misshapen liquorice, generally donning the faithful black leggings and tank top. As for glamorous or even remotely sexy… rarely. I felt like a potato 90% or of the time. But what about that 10%? What did I do that really lifted my mood and consciousness of how brilliant pregnancy is and how actually glorious I felt?

Here are 5 things to do for a mood boost during pregnancy:

1. Get a pregnancy massage

Firstly, I kid you not when I say that this was a regular occurrence in my pregnancies. I adored the gentle massaging of my stresses and muscle aches, the lymphatic drainage and general calm that falls over you when you have a massage. There are a bunch of masseurs around Norfolk who offer pregnancy massages. I went to Skin by Hayley because she’s been my go to therapist for skin and massaging for several years. She’s excellent and based in Old Catton, Norwich, Norfolk.

2. Join an antenatal fitness class

Antenatal fitness and yoga is so good for the soul. not only do you meet other mamas who are at the same stage of life as you, but you connect to your body and baby through gentle exercise. Not to mention how exercise is always good for endorphin release. Babyfit with Debbie is where I took antenatal aqua aerobics and postnatal core receiver classes. She is a font of knowledge and goos advice. I highly recommend you checking her out on Insta. She has classes throughout Norwich, Norfolk.

3. Get a maternity photoshoot

I’m sure you saw this coming a mile off…. but still, its no less true. My maternity photoshoots are about your power and grace as you grow your baby. I’m here to make you feel totally empowered, beautiful and strong. Typically, we have some Beyonce blasting out, the fan on and super flattering lighting making you feel awesome. Don’t know how to pose? I know all the flattering poses and angles and I will demonstrate and gently guide you throughout. Scared about being nude? No worries, I always start off slow with a bodysuit, crop top or dress. Implied nude or full buff, I got you. My studio is extremely private (White House Farm, Sprowston, Norwich, NR13 6LB if you want to check it out). For less than half the cost of a Gucci belt, or two months iPhone bill, you can have this, and it’ll outlast all of the rest. Get in touch here and we can start planning your perfect session.

4. Go for regular dates

Spending planned time with your partner is important not just in pregnancy but after as well. I don’t mean, laid on the sofa, phones in hand, mindlessly scrolling whilst Love Island is on in the background. I mean go for a lunch, go for a dinner. If pennies are tight, plan to go for a stroll by the river or at the beach. The key is to plan it in. Get yourself ready for the date doing whatever makes you feel good. Make that bit of effort for yourselves, and take photos whilst you’re doing it. As a result, you’ll get lots of lovely feelings when you look back on your pregnancy.

5. Get a treatment that makes you feel ace

Not for everyone but getting your nails done, feet pampered (especially when you can’t reach them comfortably anymore) lashes, hair trim, facial, whatever makes you feel good about yourself, get it booked. For natural looking nails, Bloom Beauty is where it’s at. Skin by Hayley’s glorious Signature facials are divine. For the rest, there are tons of great small local businesses in Norwich and Norfolk that cater for whatever your tastes are.

So there’s a quick 5 Things to do for a mood boost during pregnancy. There are days where the best kind of self care is doing nothing. Don’t beat yourself up for it, you need it! You’re always doing something because you are growing a person and that’s sometimes all you have room for. Chill and drink the water.
